Relaxation Massage

Ask someone why they go for a massage and you're likely to hear "because it feels sooo good." We all know that a massage can relieve stress, help to make sore muscles feel better and even reduce anxiety, but did you know that it can be a preventative health option too?

Massage is known to be a systematic manipulation for the muscles and soft tissue of the body and is used to promote health and well being and is probably the oldest healing art known to man, recorded in history as being used by the Chinese, Greeks and Romans. Massage Therapy promotes relaxation and eases emotional and physical stress, relieves headaches, and improves the function of the skin, the lungs and digestive organs.

A relaxation massage involves slow, soothing strokes to your back and neck, can slow your busy overworked mind and settle or centre you. The nurturing feeling of such caring touch is also recognized by health professionals as a way to provide pain relief, whether physical or emotional. Relaxation massage has a relaxing effect on the muscles, as well as a sedative effect on the nervous system. Spoil yourself or someone special and book in with Pam for this amazingly nurturing experience.

Pregnancy Massage

Many women are told that they will have back pain during their pregnancy and as the baby grows, the strain on your back can produce pain, soreness and stiffness all the way down your spine and into your legs. In addition to the physical stress on your body, your emotions can be all over the place!

Having a nurturing, relaxing massage can help you alleviate lower back pain, release tension in the body and relax your muscles. Emotions are just energy in motion, and sometimes due to family and work commitments we can't just let them out so our body holds on to them letting tension creep in. A relaxing massage never fails to help alleviate emotions and release tension leaving you feeling more calm and centered. A pregnancy massage involves using pillows and cushions to make you comfortable during the massage. It's an experience that you will love and appreciate because YOU are the centre of attention and your body will sing and sigh with the feeling and the smooth flowing massage strokes. Deep Tissue Massage

A person does not have to have an injury or have stress in order to enjoy the benefits of Deep Tissue Massage. Many people use massage as part of their “maintenance routine”. Deep Tissue Massage is just one way Pam can help you alleviate pain, muscle spasms, stress, inflammation and tissue damage.

However, you may be a person who doesn't ache or have pain which may lead you to think that this massage is not for you too. Deep Tissue Massage is enjoyed by many people and is used for stress and general muscle tightness you may not even know you had! Remember, prevention is better than cure and general maintenance is often better than trying to fix the problem after it has occurred.

Deep Tissue Massage involves firm pressure which gets in deep into the tissue to release the muscle tension and associated pain. This type of pressure is strong and firm and as the muscles react to it, they also relax and allow for greater movement leaving you relieved and flexible and less likely to incur injury, whether that’s through work or play.

Regular fortnightly or monthly Deep Tissue Massage can help heal and prevent injury, restore flexibility and generally increase your health and well-being. The effect being an increased health which in turn helps you work, play, take part in sport and relax more efficiently without any of the previous pain. Why wait then until you have pain in your body before you take care of it?

Sports Massage

If you're an active person who knows the pain of pushing your limits, then Sports Massage can help you. Sport Massage helps to shorten recovery time between activity and exercise workouts by dealing with waste products such as lactic and carbonic acid build up in muscles after exercise and heavy use (whether that’s from physical labor like working on site as a builder etc lifting heavy cables or just simply doing the gardening). Increased circulation to these muscles helps to eliminate toxic debris and shorten your recovery time getting you right back doing what you love doing.

Sports Massage is a therapeutic massage that includes stretching and compression techniques and rehabilitates soft tissue dysfunction that can result from physical labor, lifting weights or sports related injuries. It returns your flexibility, reduces swelling, relieves your muscle tension and alleviates muscle fatigue.

In addition, Sports Massage can work in conjunction with physiotherapy, osteopathy, and chiropractic treatment to provide an overall solution to any injury to help you return to your normal activities in stronger and better shape. Contact Pam today for information on how she can help you to recover quickly.

Trigger Point Therapy

If you've had an accident or have poor posture; suffer from ongoing health issues, then Trigger Point Therapy may be for you. Trigger point therapy is a bodywork technique that aims to relieve pain and body dysfunction. It also restores your muscles to their natural state so that optimal health benefits can be achieved. Trigger point therapy re-educates the muscles to become pain free again and can provide you with increased flexibility and improved circulation. Trigger Point Therapy also increases your energy and boosts your immune system.

Scientifically Based

Trigger Point Therapy is a scientifically based treatment which treats points on your muscle for pain relief and improved tissue condition. It is often compared to other modalities such as Acupressure, Shiatsu and even Acupuncture (though no needles needed here - yay!).

Feeling Tight in the muscles? Your muscles can often become traumatized due to injury, overuse or sudden exertion and you will, more than likely, feel pain associated with the inflammation. As this heals, the affected muscle will be slightly tighter than before and this tightness makes the muscle shorter giving it a thicker texture which then affects your flexibility. Without treatment, your body has to compensate for this lack of flexibility and other muscles then tighten in response making the problem much bigger than it needs to be.

If you injure the same muscle again, even if only slightly, the muscle tightening process continues. What commences as an occasional tightness and periodic pain can, if left untreated, become a consistent and constant discomfort. As the muscle tightness increases, the occasional pain which is associated with the tightness (not inflammation) can quickly become a chronic issue and the muscle may even begin to spasm. The thickening muscles could impinge (press) on nerves that pass through and between them causing another kind of pain (this time nerve-associated) that spreads further and in addition to the original area. The pain, together with a limited range of motion associated with this condition most often then prevents you from performing even basic activities, leaving you feeling helpless, irritable and miserable.

Treatment Description

Trigger Point Therapy has proven to be highly successful in restoring muscles back to their normal functions, thus allowing you the joy of being pain free once again. Restoration of muscle tone also improves its efficiency and performance which is not only beneficial but most often than not, priceless, whether you are an athlete, physical worker or simply just active. Trigger Point Therapy involves treatment of points on the muscle that actually relieve the tension in the muscle. With repeated treatment the muscle can be restored to its normal and supple texture and full length when relaxed. This restorative therapy does not involve physical manipulation of the muscle but the pressure on the points can be uncomfortable during treatment. However, the results are definitely worth it!

Expected Results

As the tightness of your muscle subsides, so to does the pain allowing the restored muscle tone and length to increase your range of motion. The overall result being a remarkable increase not only in your flexibility, but also in your energy level.

Relief from Chronic Muscle Pain

Most of us have experienced muscle pain in some parts of our bodies. Perhaps you have neck and shoulder pain, or discomfort when walking or standing, caused by tight and painful muscles in your low back. These are just 2 of the most commonly affected areas. The simple muscle tightening process can start a chain reaction, sometimes even causing serious ongoing medical problems. Just imagine if you had to walk around with a sharp pebble in your shoe, how hard would your body have to compensate for your limping; your hips being out of whack; or just your shoulders slumping trying to do battle with the higher hip and so forth. The tightness of the different layers of muscles compress blood vessels and nerves that run through and in between the tight muscles, causing restricted blood supply to surrounding areas. This domino effect could spread the trauma to the surrounding soft tissue and the tightening process simply continues. This process in turn activates trigger points in all the affected muscles.

Chronic pain is only the "tip of the iceberg". Before this there are several stages, first occasional tightness, then constant, which might be accompanied by mild discomfort. Then as the tightness increases there will be occasional sharp pains which will be brief and probably not command too much attention. And finally the pain comes and stays. As time passes these pain episodes will last longer and longer, and this is what commands your attention and forces you to find a solution. Why would you want to wait until you were at this stage?
